FeaturedCommentsThanks, Peter, for compiling this wonderful collection of Americana! When I was in Grammar school, there was a small "newsstore" situated by itself, just outside the town center. He carried all the Nazi comic books, and True Detective and many others you have found. Of course, as 12-year-olds from a parochial school, we were never supposed to set foot in there, our we would suffer in Hell! One day, my friend & I slipped in to look around. After only 10 minutes, we left, feeling the we had stepped into the adult world for the first time. Well, as ALWAYS happens in a small town, the next day, my mother, my friend's mother, and the nuns at school all took us to task for going in the store! Someone (probably a woman) espied us walking in, and wasted no time letting our mothers know! Like Hillary Clinton said, "It takes a village to raise a child!"
I especially enjoyed all the old pics of presidents and other celebrities of their eras! Nice change of pace from Men's Mags & sheet music. Actually old enough to remember a lot of the films from the 50's & early 60's .
Wonderful collection of cover art , a very under appreciated genre . Lurid yes , but SO atmospheric !
A glorious gallery. Keep up the great work, I'm glad this type artwork from, for me, a wonderful period of illustration, is being collected for people to enjoy and be inspired by.
